Project 2 – Newspaper Design

You will design and execute a front page of a tabloid-sized newspaper. The tabloid will be 11" X 14" and may be in color or black and white. You will be given the stories (copy), images (photos) and cutline (captions) that you will use to design the page. These will be found on my faculty webpage. They are listed as Project 2 Picture 1-4, Project 2 Story 1-4 and Project 2 Cutline 1-4. You will be shown how to print this tabloid page as a proof on an 8 ˝" X 11" sheet of paper.

Your design should be modular, have a dominant photo, be clean and have proper spacing.

You will turn in two copies of your design with the dummy you used to design the page. You will put your name on the back of both copies and turn in the copies in a pocket folder with your name on it.

This project’s objectives are to teach you the following:

how to use dummies

how to use InDesign to newspaper pages

how design principles can be used in newspaper design

how the steps of design can be used to create newspaper pages
